Why length matters
A shock has a set travel, from fully compressed to fully extended. When you level or lift a truck, the mounts move farther apart. A stock length shock can end up topped out, riding at the very end of its travel. That makes a harsh ride and wears the shock fast.
Measure it the right way
Measure mount to mount, center to center, with the truck sitting at normal ride height. On an eye mount, measure from the center of the eye. On a stud mount, measure from the center of the stud. This is not the distance from the frame to the ground.
Where the shock should sit
You want the shock sitting near the middle of its travel at ride height. That leaves room to compress over bumps and room to extend over dips.
Stock, leveled or lifted
Find My Shock lets you pick stock, leveled 2 to 3 inches, or lifted 4 to 6 inches. Not sure, or running a custom setup? Use Fit Check to enter your measurement, or call 661-243-0020 and we'll match the right length.
