The oil inside
Our own high-performance blend, built for heavy-duty work.
What shock oil actually does
- It does the damping. Every bit of control comes from forcing oil through the piston and shims. It's the working fluid, not just lube.
- It carries heat away from the seals and internals.
- It lubricates the shaft, seals and wear bands.
- It conditions the seals so they don't dry out and crack.
Why the oil matters
- Stays consistent hot or cold. Cheap oil thins out when it gets hot, and your damping fades with it.
- Resists foaming. Oil full of air can't control anything. That's the whole reason the floating piston keeps the oil away from the nitrogen.
- Works with the seals. The wrong oil can swell or shrink seals and cause leaks.
- Breaks down over time. Fresh oil brings the shock back to how it rode new.
The HD Shocks blend
- Our own blend, spec'd for heavy-duty applications, not an off-the-shelf fluid.
- The same class of high-performance oil used in trophy trucks.
- Matched to the seals we use.
Built to be serviced
- A blue tint makes it easy to check the oil level and spot leaks during service.
- Every HD Shock can be rebuilt. A rebuild puts in fresh oil and seals and brings back the ride.
